Quilter's Ironing Board
Need a larger ironing surface for those big quilts? Make one in just a few hours!
Ironing extra-wide fabrics or quilts can be easy if you have the right surface! Make this large, removable ironing board for under $20 using a few tools, fabrics from your local store, and wood that's pre-cut at your local home improvement store! The board is designed to fit securely over your existing ironing surface, and can be removed and stowed when not in use.
Finished Ironing Board Size:
24" x 48"
Required Supplies and Tools:
For Board:
24" x 48” warp-resistant plywood (six ply or higher)
Jigsaw
Pencil
Round object to trace (a roll of masking tape works great)
1-1/4 to 1-3/4” screws (should not exceed 2”)
Drill bit that’s smaller than the screw size
Countersink bit (this drills a cone that the screw head sinks down into so that
your top surface will be smooth)
