5 Easy Steps to Fusible Applique
This step-by-step tutorial is taken from the "Slice of Summer" ebook available for FREE by signing up for the YouCanQuiltThis newsletter! Though the directions below are specific to the watermelon patches, the same method can be used for any applique piece.

Appliquéing and Embroidering the Watermelon Blocks:
1. Place the fusible web on top of your pattern, paper side up. Trace the pattern onto the paper side. Be sure to write the number on the pattern, as well. It may be helpful to do this at a window or light-box for easier tracing.

2. Separate the pattern pieces by cutting around each pattern (not directly on the line).

3. Iron each paper piece to the wrong side of the fabric. Choose a different fabric for each piece. Press according to manufacturer’s instruction.

4. Peel off paper backing and lay the pieces down in the same order as each piece was numbered. Overlap ends as indicated on the pattern Press.

5. With a tight zig-zag stitch (approx width 3.0 and length .2), satin stitch along each red and green line.
